Dr Nick Gent Confirmed to Speak at the 2025 CHF Cardiovascular Conference
We are very pleased to announce that Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Nick Gent will be a speaker at our 2025 CHF Cardiovascular Conference. Dr Gent also delivered the keynote address on “The State of Cardiovascular Health Today” at our 2024 Conference, as pictured above.
Dr Gent has served as CMO for the Cayman Islands since September 2022, bringing with him over three decades of experience in public health. He was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2018 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to health protection.
Before being appointed CMO in Cayman, Dr Gent served as a senior adviser and consultant with the UK Health Security Agency. His impressive career also includes roles as Director of Public Health within district services and as an executive member of UK NHS health service authorities, with responsibility for public health, health protection, and the commissioning of healthcare services.
Among the many key initiatives Dr Gent has championed during his tenure in Cayman is providing guidance on the 2023 STEPS National Health Survey as well as promoting awareness of the survey’s findings.
According to the 2023 STEPS National Health Survey, cardiovascular disease (CVD) was the leading cause of death in the Cayman Islands, responsible for 27% of all deaths in 2022.
Our theme for the 2025 conference is focused on continuing to raise awareness and foster critical discussions around:
“Improving Cardiovascular Outcomes by Advancing Awareness, Prevention & Treatment.”
This vital topic reflects both the urgency of the latest health data and our shared commitment to building a healthier future for all in the Cayman Islands.
We are grateful to have Dr Gent contributing to this year’s event, lending his insight and expertise to support this important conversation.
