- Cardiovascular diseases is not only a leading cause of death in Cayman but worldwide, responsible for an estimated 17.9 million deaths annually
- Over 80% of cardiovascular disease deaths are caused by heart attacks and strokes.
- Approximately one-third of CVD-related deaths occur in individuals under the age of 70.
- Many cardiovascular diseases can be prevented by tackling behavioral and environmental risk factors, including tobacco use, poor diet, obesity, physical inactivity, excessive alcohol consumption, and air pollution.

Much of the above can be preventable.
